$50 Stipend for Eligible Focus Group Participants on October 12 in San Antonio

Posted on September 19, 2012

If you are attending the American School Health Association conference in October, the NEA Health Information Network (NEA HIN) will be conducting a focus group from 4:30-5:45 pm, on Friday, October, 12 during the 2012 ASHA meeting.

The purpose of the group is to inform the development of teaching materials for use in high school (grades 9-12) that address issues of prescription drug use, misuse, and abuse.  The project is made possible by an educational grant to the NEA HIN from Purdue Pharma L.P.  It is a continuation of a project that we started last year which focused on middle grades.

Eligible participants are those who:

  • Teach high school
  • Provide curriculum support or oversight for high school health education
  • Provide pre-service or in-service professional development for those teaching high school
  • Develop high school health education curriculum or related materials
  • Work in the area of substance abuse prevention and education for high school age students

Each participant will receive a stipend of $50 by mail following the group. Participants must attend the entire session to receive the stipend.

If you interested in participating in this focus group and fit the criteria, please RSVP using this form by 5:00 pm EDT on October 1, 2012. Please send the form to focusgroups@neahin.org or fax it to 202-822-7775. Slots will be filled first come, first served based on geographical location and a variety of other factors to ensure a diverse group of attendees.

Before submitting your RSVP, please confirm that you are not obligated to attend any other event during the scheduled times. There are workshop sessions during this time.

If you are selected to participate you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation email, you have not been selected to participate. Additional information including the meeting location will be included in the confirmation email.

If you have any questions feel free to contact Nora Howley (202.822.7570,nhowley@nea.org) at the NEA Health Information Network.
