San Antonio’s beautiful Riverwalk is the site for ASHA’s 2012 conference. It offers endless options for dining and entertainment. Here are 5 fun things you just might want to plan for:

  1. Take a world-famous river tour with Rio San Antonio Cruises. Float for 45 minutes and enjoy the sights this festive Texas icon offers. Or, jump on a Rio Taxi, which makes 39 stops along the Riverwalk.
  2. Head to The Esquire Tavern to test Chef Brooke Smith’s common sense philosophy about food: “Keep it simple, fresh, and filled with love… and it will always be good.”
  3. Give a nod to the odd at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium and see three stories of weird stuff from around the world.
  4. Stroll through La Villita, San Antonio’s first neighborhood. It was originally a settlement of primitive huts for the Spanish soldiers stationed at the Mission San Antonio Valero (the Alamo). Today it’s home to a thriving arts community complete with shops and galleries.
  5. Need some retail therapy? RiverCenter Mall houses Macy’s, Gap, Aerosoles, Disney Store and more.
  6. Go ahead and laugh – with some of the funniest comics around – at Rivercenter Comedy Club inside the RiverCenter Mall.
