San Antonio Offers Great Places to Eat!

Posted on November 10, 2011

Local Planning Committee Co-chair Kelly Wilson has scoped out some great dining options for when we are in San Antonio for ASHA’s conference next year. Here’s what she has to say:

When you arrive in San Antonio, you will certainly have the option of eating wonderful Mexican/Tex-Mex foods, but be aware that the San Antonio River Walk is lined with dozens of alluring places to eat. There are German bakeries, Mexican cantinas, French bistros and Italian trattorias for you to choose from. San Antonio is also the home of many cooking schools, so get your ASHA friends involved and make it a night out when you register for cooking classes in the host city!

ASHA’s local planning committee is hoping that San Antonio’s year-round great weather will boast true and be able to attract you to the city’s charming outdoor sanctuaries. Just outside the conference location (Crowne Plaza San Antonio) on the Riverwalk, you will find bistros, cafes, nightspots and hotels in downtown, most with outdoor patios for dining and relaxing.

You can also explore the food of San Antonio by creating your own or taking a “foodie tour.” Each tour is unique – for example combine food with art by strolling through the King William Historic District and sample special delicacies at neighborhood restaurants and galleries or take the Brewstillery Tour that explores local breweries, microbreweries and distilleries.

Mark your calendar for the ASHA conference in San Antonio (October 10-13, 2012), where you know there will be good food!
